How to swap slots on X'press (ver 1.1): --------------------------------------- Sometimes games need SCC to slot 1, but X'press has only SLOT 2 and SLOT 1 contains 64Kb RAM. There is also other probblem. If you put external memory mapper to that SLOT 2, BIOS does not found it, because it searches only first RAM SLOT, so it founds 64Kb from SLOT 1, and all other memory is not used exept, if you use DOS2 or some "vice" proggrams. These probblems are anyway easy to solve, because we can make a switch, that can swap these slots (1 <--> 2). We will need one double switch, that has 6 pins. I will call the pins like this in the future : +-------------+ | 1 2 3 | | 4 5 6 | +-------------+ And now here comes the instructions : - Remove IC 35 - Take pins 3 and 38 and bend them so, that they are heading up. WARNING !!! Don't brake these pins, elseway your computer is history. - Take a wire and connect it to pin 5 in the switch. - Connect the other end to TP 11 (Test point 11 is a hole very near of IC 35) - Put the IC back - Take another wire and connect it to pin 2 in the switch. - Connect the other end to pin 38 of IC 35 (heading up) - Connect third wire to pins 1 and 6 in the switch. - Find the hole, that is going trough the print and that is most near of pin 1 in IC 29 (upside of that IC) - Connect the other end of third wire to that hole. - Connect fourth wire to pins 3 and 4 of the switch. - Connect the other end to pin 3 of IC 35 (the other pin heading up) And now you are ready to go !!! Note, that you have to switch your computer off, if you want to change slots, elseway your computer will hang. ,_____. _=_=_=_=!_MSX_!=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_, !
